Block Printing in Jaipur, December 2016

In December I spent three weeks travelling around Rajasthan in India. Here I visited the workshops of potters, weavers and block-printers. I was taken aback by the wonderful, traditional hand-skills of the artisans that I met. I am particularly interested in the block-printing technique and am experimenting with this print method in clay.

This month my work was mentioned in an article on Arts Thread.

'In mutual homage to the capital Rachel Cox’s hand cut, stencilled tiles are inspired by the rich cultural tapestry of London. Traditional motifs from different cultures inspire colourful geometrics, while varying clay compositions and glazes give different surface effects.'by Fran Lawton

One to Watch: Creative Boom Article, June 2014
