What will I learn?

Whether you are just starting out and looking for focused tuition to accelerate your skill set or require advanced guidance in a specialist area such as throwing, mould-making/slip casting or glazing, a one to one class can be tailored to meet your individual needs. A one to one class directs the tutors' knowledge and time around the learners' individual needs. Rachel Cox has extensive experience teaching ceramics from beginners right up to Higher Education level and can design a course or one off class that will enable you to achieve your unique objectives.

What will I take home?

Learning how to make pottery involves making lots AND LOTS of mistakes along the way! The great thing about clay in its raw state is that it’s sustainable and can be recycled and reused. On this course you’ll choose your best four pots to have glazed and fired in the kiln. Your finished pieces can then be collected from the studio two weeks after your session.

Who will teach me?

Rachel Cox has both a First Class Degree in Ceramics and a Masters in Ceramics from the Royal College of Art. She is also a qualified teacher with extensive experience having taught and managed ceramics departments in various Arts Colleges across London. Rachel has also studied and practiced ceramics within institutions in Poland, Hungary, and Spain. With almost two decades of working in the industry

she has a deep knowledge of ceramic techniques and practices.

What does the price of this course include?

You will be taught in Rachel Cox’s modern studio with the latest ceramic tools and equipment in a private lesson. All materials are included where you will have access to a range of clays, slips and glazes and an apron will be provided. Your pottery will be fired twice in an electric kiln up to temperatures of 1260 degrees. There is a bike lock up and private parking onsite available to all students.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

This is a private session so a degree of flexibility can be offered. Should you need to change the date of your class, it will be possible to reschedule up to 7 days before. It will not be possible to reschedule a class beyond 7 days prior to the course date and a refund cannot be offered. In the unlikely event that a class is cancelled by Rachel Cox Ceramics due to unforeseen circumstances that are out of the studio's control the class will be rescheduled at a later date or a refund for the class will be offered if the rescheduled date is not suitable.
