My work is handcrafted, I start by drawing my ideas onto paper and then begin to apply watercolour when considering my colour palette. I later transfer these drawings and colour schemes into Illustrator where I can work quickly to repeat and conceptulise my designs. In the studio I use a breadth of tools and techniques to produce my work, which include using the lathe, the whirler, press moulding, slip casting, inlay and hand carving. I have also used computer
aided design to produce 3D models of my work, which I later used to create traditional slip casting moulds. A large part of my work involves me creating colour tests; I enjoy reading about glaze chemistry and apply this knowledge to my practice when mixing body stains and glaze tests.
